Achievements

The responsibility of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) is to provide reliable and updated information for preparing development plans and administrative activities of the country. BBS has been responsible for regular collection, compilation and publication of various information related to national and local planning planners, public and private research institutions, international organizations and public use. Recently, the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics-NSDS and Statistics Act 2013 have been formulated. As a result, the work area of ​​BBS has been expanded. In view of this, the organizational structure of the BBS has been rescheduled and the work of making it more powerful and rationalizing is going on. The survey has been completed in various census and socio-economic and demographic sectors under section 6 of the Statistics Act 2013.


The fifth census and home count of the country was held on 15-19 March 2011. This is the first time the data usage of the iCADE software and the 2011 census data on the ICR machine has been processed. Using the digital method, it is possible to give accurate results of the census in the fastest time. According to the census, 05 (five) national reports, 64 (seventy) district reports and 64 community reports have been published. Besides, 14 (fourteen) monographs and 01 (one) population projections report were prepared using census and home census 2011 data. Under this project, the primary data of Redatam software and census 2011 has been uploaded on BBS website, which allows users to prepare tables, graphs, charts, etc. as per their requirement. Apart from this, arrangements have been made in the departmental level in ICT training and the furniture and various equipment has been provided at field level offices.


In the month of March-May 2013, data collection activities of the third economic census were completed in Bangladesh. With the use of high-powered software, the first time the information of economic census data is taken into the computer at the BBS headquarters in the lowest possible time using modern government technology established at the local level through Union Information and Services Center (UISC). Under the census, 66 reports will be published, 01 of which National Report has been published, 01 Administrative Report and 64 Zila Report have been published. Under the Economic Census 2013, Business Register (Business Register) has taken up the work. It will be used as the main structure of the country's economic statistics. The business register will contain information about each company's name, address, legal structure, type of work, number of manpower employed, yearly average production, total assets amount etc.


Under the Economic Census 2013 project, 'Survey of Investment for External Income' 2016 was conducted. Through this survey, collecting information about the various sectors of expatriation income, as well as information about the various sector information, expatriate information and the socio-economic status of the bank has been collected, which will play a significant role in making proper planning and recommendations for the fair investment of expatriate income. In addition, preparatory work in Comprehensive Agricultural Census 2011 is going on, inclusive of fisheries and livestock sector. The final report of slum census and floating population counting 2014 has been published. Regularly the volume and production estimates of 126 crops have been estimated annually. Land and irrigation statistics have been prepared.

Annual Report of the Agricultural Statistics of 2014 has been published. The report has been prepared after completing survey of nine crops under the Productivity Survey Program. The final report of the Quarterly Labor Force Survey has been published under the Health and Mortality Status Survey 2014, Education House Survey, 2014, ICT Use and Access by Individuals and Householding, 2013 Labor Force Survey, 2013 and Labor Market Information System Project.

Under the monitoring of the Situation of Vital Statistics of Bangladesh (MSVSB) project, Vital Statistics of Bangladesh is regularly published on the basis of information collected through the 11 schedules from 2,012 Numna areas selected across the country.

Besides, regular publication of BBSA such as statistics pocket book, statistical yearbook and monthly statistics bulletin is published regularly.
